Queensland says goodbye to Certificates of Title!

On 26 March 2019, a Bill was passed in Parliament to amend the Land Title Act 1994. The amendments mean that from 1 October 2019, paper Certificates of Title (‘CT’) will no longer have any legal effect.

If you have a CT, following 1 October 2019 you will not be required to dispense with the Title by lodging it with Land Titles.

If you hold another persons CT as a form of Security, you may want to get in touch with your Solicitor to discuss your rights.

If you have any queries, contact one of our friendly team to discuss!
